Coit Tower
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This 210ft-high, fluted, concrete column dates from 1933. Despite persistent local lore, it was not designed to resemble a firehose nozzle. The tower was a gift to San Francisco's citizens from Lillie Coit, who wished to leave an enduring token of her love for the city. The elevator to the top floor commands a panoramic view of the urban landscape. Don't miss the murals in the lobby of Coit Tower, clearly inspired by Mexican street art.
