The Michelin Guide's review
The Palace of Fine Arts, among San Francisco's most iconic landmarks, is a grandiose Roman Revival rotunda with an elegant peristyle. Built by Bernard Maybeck, it is reflected in the peaceful pond where swans gracefully glide. It is a concrete reconstitution (1962-1975) of a building initially erected for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition to house Impressionist art; it was initially built out of wood and plaster.
