The Michelin Guide's review
The museum is located in a 1926 building whose Plateresque façade was inspired by Spain's University of Salamanca. Apart from temporary exhibitions, San Diego Art Museum's collection features sacred and secular European art (14-18C), works by American artists (19-20C) and Asian art collections. The museum is however particularly famous for its modern art holdings, including works by Matisse, Dali and Maillol. Contemporary Californian art is also represented.
