The Michelin Guide's review
The museum, established in a 1933 edifice, is devoted to the natural history of California and the ecosystem of its oceanic coastlines. Skeletons of whales, dinosaurs and other species rub shoulders with fossils and countless examples of California's wildlife and plants and flowers. The museum also stages temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of themes and projects films on a giant screen.
