The Michelin Guide's review
The Museum of Man is located in California Building (1915), one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance. Its holdings chronicle the history of early humankind by way of a Gallery of Evolution and a room devoted to Egyptian and Peruvian mummies. A handsome collection of pottery, basketwork and miscellaneous objects depict the life of the Native Californian Kumeyaay. The museum also stages temporary exhibitions.
