Near Salzburg, the Gaisberg enables you to overlook the whole region. On the road leading to the summit, the view faces West towards Salzburg, the Salzach gap, then Bavaria and much further afield, the Salzburg Alps. When reaching the top, at 1,288 m, indicated by a cross, you can see a magnificent panorama stretching eastwards to the Salzkammergut, whose salt made prince-archbishops wealthy and south-east to the Dachstein massif.
