The Michelin Guide's review
A marina and a beach provide access to the largest lake in America, the Great Salt Lake, to the west of the Mississippi. With a surface area over 4400km2/1698mi2, it has an average depth of only 4m/13ft. The only way out of the lake for the water is by evaporation and the salt accumulates over time, creating a peculiar ecosystem where only the brine shrimp, or Artemia salinia, can survive. However, waterfowl (257 species) abound on the islands and shores.
