Anheuser-Busch Brewery
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
German immigrants used the cool depths of St. Louis' network of underground limestone caves to age their lager beer. On the south side, where caves were especially plentiful, Eberhard Anheuser established his brewery in 1860. Son-in-law Adolphus Busch launched the first national brand of beer with the debut of Budweiser in 1876. Walking tours of the 100-acre world headquarters begin at the Tour center, and take in the beautifully maintained brewing, aging and bottling buildings.
