The Michelin Guide's review
The golf course at has been used for paying golf or its preceding version since the 15C. It has become the golf world's Mecca. Founded in 1754, the Golf Society of St Andrews received the title of royal and ancient by William IV in 1834. Considered as the leading centre for the sport and being very popular, new courses (New in 1895, Jubilee in 1897, Eden in 1912) were added to the old one, which was designed centuries ago.
