The Michelin Guide's review
Not far from the sea, a variety of habitats co-exist within this 81ha nature reserve: coastal grassland, sandy and rocky shores, and cliffs. It includes the man-made Mire Loch. The sea cliffs rise to over 90m and serve as a refuge to seabirds (since 2017, a first pair of gannets has set up home here). Near the lighthouse that presides over the coast, the panoramic view reaches as far as Hairy Ness to the south and towards the promontory of Fast Castle to the north.
