The Michelin Guide's review
The California State Railroad Museum celebrates railroading and its decisive role in the development of the West. Visitors learn about the great challenges overcome during the building of the Central Pacific Railroad over the Sierra Nevada in the 1860s. A large exhibit hall showcases a fine collection of some 20 locomotives and railroad cars, including a 1929 train, complete with "authentic" sounds and vibrations.
