The Michelin Guide's review
This cottage dating back to 1574 and enlarged as a farmhouse in the 18C was home to William Wordsworth (1770-1850) from 1813 until his death; during this period he moved from revolutionary poetry to the reactionary status of Poet Laureate. The house contains his library and the ceiling to his study, still painted with the Renaissance patterns he had copied during a visit to Italy.
