Abbey Route
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
To the west of Rouen, a series of abbeys lie along the meandering River Seine. The abbey church of St-Georges-de-Boscherville is a pure example of Norman Romanesque. More evidence of the "Benedictine flowering" of the 11C can be seen at Jumièges Abbey and the Abbey of St-Wandrille, with its 14C nave. On the left bank of the river, the Bec-Hellouin Abbey retains one of France's earliest neo-Classical cloisters (17C).
