The Michelin Guide's review
Perched up high in the centre of the town, the Church of the Holy Cross (12C-13C, 15C tower) houses interesting 15C and 16C paintings, a three-storey altarpiece (1652) and a Baroque-style pulpit (1620), a fine example of the elegant wood sculpture practised by the Danes under Christian IV. A heavy oak door bearing burns and the marks of axe blows serves as a reminder of the bloodbath that took place in Ronneby in 1564, when the King of Sweden, Eric XIV, laid siege to the town.
