This endearing, working class quarter teems with Bohemian hipsters and night owls. Its cobbled lanes, houses with lopsided façades and workshops give it a village feel. Don't miss the basilica on the lovely Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, or the Villa Farnesina, a spectacular exercise in Renaissance refinement. In July, Trastevere becomes the scene of the time-honoured "Festa de Noantri".
