The Michelin Guide's review
The huge Renaissance Greillenstein Castle, with its sober façades and two-tiered arcaded courtyard, stands in the unspoilt Waldviertel countryside. It was built between 1570 and 1590 on the ruins of an earlier fortress and is dominated by a great entrance tower, topped by four bartizans. The baronial courtroom and chapel, with its network of ribbed vaulting and Renaissance altar, are notably opened to the public.
