The Michelin Guide's review
In the heart of the religious city of Rocamadour, the Romanesque St-Michel chapel was once used for services by the priory monks. On the outside, superb 12C frescoes depict scenes such as the Annunciation and the Visitation. In a wide variety of tones (ochre, yellow and ruddy brown against a royal blue background), this deft composition is notable for the movement of the figures. Inside is a Christ in Majesty surrounded by the evangelists.
