The Michelin Guide's review
This beautifully preserved 1891 Victorian residence sports exceptional craftsmanship typical of the prosperous houses that lined Magnolia Avenue during the late 19C. Elaborate ornamentation heralds the many traditions typically incorporated into the Queen Anne style, with exterior embellishments revealing Moorish, Palladian and Chinese influences. A mill was installed in the adjacent carriage house during construction to provide woods for the interior carved-oak wainscoting, fireplace grilles, and frames for 9ft pocket doors. Some of the furnishings are original to the house, and all are authentic to the period. The interior also features many examples of Victorian "hobby art"-simple, inexpensive craft projects such as handmade picture frames.
