Newby Hall
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Newby Hall is an attractive property that dates from the 17C and 18C. It is renowned for its interiors designed by the architect Robert Adam (1728-92). Points of interest include the Gobelins Tapestry Room, the gallery of Classical sculpture, the Chippendale furnishings, and a collection of chamber pots. To the south of the house, lovely grounds slope down to the River Ure. For children, a miniature railway skirts the river as far as the Adventure Gardens.
