The Michelin Guide's review
The current castle bears little resemblance to the feudal stronghold from which the Frankopan governed their states. It is in effect a reconstitution, commissioned in the 19C by an Austrian marshal, Count Laval Nugent of Westmeath. The keep (known as the "Roman tower") commands a splendid view of the gulf of Kvarner, the eastern Istrian coast and the islands of Cres and Krk.
