Parque Treze de Maio
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
A breath of fresh air in the densely-built Boa Vista area, the Parque Treze de Maio (1 000m2), designed by Burle Marx (1939), offers a good excuse for a pleasant break. Its wooded alleys, punctuated by stone benches and sculptures by Abelardo Hora, lead to fountains and ponds, as well as a little zoo where toucans, blue and yellow macaws, monkeys (tufted capuchin or Cebus apella) and parrots flap about. The Municipal Chamber occupies an eclectic pale yellow building (1920) in the park.
