The Michelin Guide's review
Villa Cimbrone (early 20C) was built by a British politician, Ernest William Beckett, in an eclectic style that calls to mind San Francesco and the Villa Rufolo. It pays tribute to the history of Ravello but was also a point of reference for the Bloomsbury Group, for whom the extraordinary garden embodied the ideal aesthetic of clarity, order and harmony. A lookout offers vertiginous views of the cultivated terraces on the hillside, as well as Maiori, Capo d'Orso and the Gulf of Salerno.
