The Michelin Guide's review
The Lower Town grew up around Champlain's "Habitation." Between 1650-62, over 35 plots of land were granted to merchants to build stores and homes. The trading vocation of the Lower Town has left its stamp on the neighbourhood, as the countless markets, docks and old warehouses now turned into hotels or apartment blocks illustrate. Don't miss the historic Place Royale or the Museum of Civilization.
