The Michelin Guide's review
On this site, believed to be the place where Moses died, a church was first built in the 4C. It became a baptistery and in the 6C a basilica which incorporated the earlier structures. Among the remains which can be seen today, note a fine 6C mosaic and clergy seating in the apse. Outside stand two sculptures; one commemorates the visit of Pope John-Paul II, the other depicts Moses and the brazen serpent.
