The Michelin Guide's review
Ħagar Qim (or "standing stones") impresses by the size of its stones (one of which measures 7m x 3m). According to legend, the temple was built by giants and the debate as to how such blocks of stone were transported between 3000 and 2500 BCE continues to rage. An irresistible magnet for all Neolithic historians, it is doubtless one of the most architecturally sophisticated temples in existence. Statues of varying sizes have also been found on the site.
