The Michelin Guide's review
Edified by the 18C Jesuits, Puno cathedral, characteristic of crossbred Baroque, boasts a finely carved portal alternating pagan (mermaids playing the charango, sun, moon) and Christian motifs. The spacious, uncluttered interior is home to a silver-plated altar, several works of art by the Cuzco School and two statues worshipped by the inhabitants: Señor de la bala (Lord of the Ball) and the Virgin of Cures.
