Porto Vecchio Citadel

The Michelin Guide's review
Built by the Genoese on a rocky crest overlooking the port, the citadel of Porto Vecchio has retained part of its old fortifications. Its main thoroughfare is Cours Napoléon, around which are clustered little streets linked by steps, and vaulted passages. In the centre, the Place de la République has lively cafés with outdoor tables. The elegant bell tower and chevet of St-Jean-Baptiste church, which overlooks the square, contrasts with the unfinished Classical façade of this building dating from the 16C to the 19C.
