The Michelin Guide's review
This extraordinary white panel of marl (a mix of clay and limestone) slopes gradually towards the sea and, in summer, provides a smooth surface on which to lie and sunbathe. On the other side, the so-called Turks' Ladder forms narrow, sinuous curves that reveal much about the action of the sea and the wind. This nickname comes from a popular belief that Saracen pirates used to scale the rocks after leaving their boats sheltered in the little creeks all around.
