The Michelin Guide's review
Built between 1963 and 1972 between the islands of Goeree and Schouwen, this large barrage does not have a lock. Sluice chambers were used to finish the North segment. As for the construction of the south segment it needed a cable car capable of transporting 15 tonnes of concrete on each journey. A saltwater lake (non tidal) was created between the barrages of Brouwersdam and Grevelingendam.
