The Michelin Guide's review
A pioneer of German abstract art, Otto Freundlich (1878-1943) arrived in Paris in 1908. His work featured heavily in the exhibition of "degenerate art" organised by the Nazis in Munich in 1937. During the occupation, he took refuge in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, but was arrested and died during deportation. Apart from his paintings, this modern art museum displays work by Arp, Gleizes and Matisse, temporary exhibitions by 20C artists on the second floor, as well as the town's historical collections.
