Église St-Bénigne
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This church was damaged in the 1736 fire. This explains the postiche façade, which was an attempt to fit in with the new square. The bell tower-porch is an imitation of those of mountain churches, which had to be protected against the snow. Inside: two paintings (Christ Surrounded by Angels and The Lactation of Saint Bernard), a statue of the Black Madonna of Einsiedeln (much loved in the Haut Doubs) and superb 1975 stained-glass windows by Alfred Manessier, on the subject of the pastoral symphony.
