This lavish house of grandiose proportions formerly occupied an entire city block, with two atriums, two peristyles and a dining room for every season. The original faun bronze statue which adorned one of the impluviums is now in the Archaeological museum of Naples. The rooms were decorated with wonderful mosaics including the extraordinary Battle of Alexander, (Naples museum) which covered the floor space between the two peristyles.
