Recognisable by its tall and richly decorated minaret, the mosque was built in 1562-63. It had two points of access: the lower entrance from the market square, and the higher entrance from the city's main road. From the courtyard, you get to admire the panorama of the city. Below is a madrasa, or Koranic school, dating from the same period.
