Hangtown's Gold Bug Park
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This 61-acre municipal park contains a hardrock mine-operated from 1888 to the beginning of World War II-that is today open to the public. A taped narration of the mine's history accompanies visitors walking through the 352ft mine tunnel for a view of the quartz vein that lured miners to sink some 250 shafts in the immediate vicinity. Nearby are an original stamp mill and an interpretive museum.
