The Michelin Guide's review
Kellie Castle is in fact a laird's house, an example of traditional Scottish architecture in the 16C and 17C. After a period of neglect, from 1876 the castle was progressively restored to its former glory thanks to the backing of the talented Lorimer family, including Robert Lorimer, architect of Chardon Chapel. The 17C plasterwork ceilings are worthy of note, particularly the one in the Vine Room.
