The Michelin Guide's review
Since 2017 the Visitor Centre has looked over the huge dam (16.5m high and 139m long), which was built in 1951, creating Loch Faskally. The centre explains how the dam was built and the issues related to hydroelectric production. The highlight of the visit is the salmon ladder, which enables the fish to swim upstream to reach their spawning grounds between April and October, thanks to 34 pools, including three resting areas. Visitors can admire the salmon at close quarters thanks to the observation screen.
