Tambo Colorado
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
On the banks of Río Pisco, between Ayacucho and Cuzco, Tambo Colorado was an Inca stopover town for travellers. This exceptionally well-preserved city differs from its stone counterparts because it was built out of adobe and formerly painted in bright, predominantly red, colours. Wander along its rectilinear streets, past barracks, palaces and warehouses, of which only the roofs are missing.
