Phnom Penh's most beautiful market takes place in a beautiful cruciform-shaped Art Deco building built in 1937 by French architects Jean Desbois and Louis Chauchon. The slits in the magnificent dome bathe the market in fresh air and natural light. The central square is reserved for jewellers and clockmakers, while each of the 4 side galleries that branch off from there has its own line of business: clothes, shoes, cosmetics, electronics, traditional arts and crafts, textiles...
