The Michelin Guide's review
As early as the 6C, a chapel was built on the site of the tomb of Saint Front. Over the centuries, larger edifices were constructed over the original chapel. In 1575, the church was pillaged, the treasure dispersed and the saint's tomb destroyed, until it was finally rebuilt by Paul Abadie from 1852. The current dimensions, bold domes and sturdy pillars of the rebuilt church were inspired by the prestigious Romanesque edifice. Look out for the monumental Baroque altarpiece at the rear of the apse.
