The Michelin Guide's review
This garden offers a fine view over the bay. It is renowned for its exotic species of trees, as well as its azaleas and rhododendrons. Sir Edward Bolitho and the owners of Trewithen and Hidcote (Gloucestershire) funded the 1927-28 expeditions of Frank Kingdon-Ward, whose intention was to collect and bring back plants from Borneo, China and Assam. The azaleas and rhododendrons were replanted and hybrids created.
