The Michelin Guide's review
Anchored in the sea off Cabo Carvoeiro, the island lies 12km from the coast, a mass of red granite. It is the main part of an archipelago of several little islands: the Estelas, the Forcadas, and the Farilhões. It is a famous centre for underwater fishing and recreational fishing and has many wonderful points and marine caves. You can get there by boat from the very end of the Peniche peninsula. The mooring is at the foot of an old fortress (1676).
