The Michelin Guide's review
Sited on the slopes of the sacred Mount Batukaru, Pura Luhur Batukaru (2,276m) emerges from a verdant backdrop often shrouded in mist. Amidst tree ferns, bamboo and banana trees, moss-covered sculptures are home to an extraordinary colony of butterflies. In the main courtyard are several meru with multiple roofs, dedicated to the ancestors of the Tabanan dynasty and local protector deities including Maha Dewa, goddess of the mountain.
