The Michelin Guide's review
Isolated at the southwestern tip of Bukit Peninsula, the temple stands at the edge of an abrupt headland overlooking the ocean from over 200m up (uluwatu means "at the summit of the rocks"). Dedicated to the sea gods, it is also one of the nine directional temples and one of the six most venerated sanctuaries in Bali. You will be struck by the panoramic view over the cliffs and the thunderous waves crashing onto the untamed coast. Beware of the prowling monkeys and keep an eye on your belongings.
