The Michelin Guide's review
The rich doorway of this church consecrated in 1132 is typical of the Romanesque Lombard style. In the chancel lies St Augustine (354-430), in a tomb designed by the maestri campionesi, the artists from the Lugano region and the Lombardy lakes who played such an important role in the birth of Romanesque art in Italy. The cenotaph features no fewer than 95 statues and 50 low-reliefs, which depict episodes from the life of the saint.
