Gamble House
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
A masterpiece of the Arts and Crafts movement, Gamble House was the winter residence of David Gamble, heir of the Procter & Gamble corporation. More than a dozen types of wood (cedar, redwood, mahogany, Burmese teak, maple, Douglas pine, ebony, oak etc) were used in the construction of this extraordinary building, which blends perfectly into its environment. The furniture and woodwork alike demonstrate an extraordinary decorative elegance.
