The Michelin Guide's review
Penascosa is the most accessible and intelligible site within the Côa Valley Archaeological Area. Most of the engravings here were created using abrasion and chipping techniques, and the movement of animals is recreated in an extraordinary way, such as the depiction, in what is probably a mating scene, of a mare mounted by a horse, whose three heads express the motion of its neck.
