The Michelin Guide's review
This department store started life as a tiny haberdasher's opened in 1895 by Alphonse Kahn. Today, it is a must on any shopping trip to Paris, particularly during the New Year sales, when crowds gather to admire its stunning window displays. It has expanded as far as Japan, though nothing compares with the original store. With its cupola and balustrades, the building possesses its own unique charm. Enjoy a fine view from the terrace, on which the aviator Védrines landed in 1919.
