The Michelin Guide's review
This bridge was built between 1787-91 by the civil engineer, Perronet, who used stones recovered from the demolition of the Bastille so that, it was said, "the people could forever trample the ruins of the old fortress". Widened in 1931, the bridge provides wonderful views of the Seine and the Concorde towards the Madeleine.
