The Michelin Guide's review
Pierre Lescot's façade, between the Pavillon de l'Horloge (Clock Pavilion) and the south wing, boasts some truly delightful decoration. The sculptor Jean Goujon concentrated his efforts (allegorical high-reliefs, statues in the niches, friezes of children and garlands) on the three frontispieces and the top floor of the building. The grace and life of his compositions are admirable. At night, a lighting system highlights superbly the most impressive part of the old Louvre.
