The Michelin Guide's review
These temples, some 5,000 years old, are spread over four sites, linked by narrow passages. Tarxien is the best preserved prehistoric site in the world and quite unique. The stones are immense and many still bear their original carving, depicting geometric motifs and animals, known as Tarxien Art. Fragments of legs of one of the first representations of a standing divinity were found here.
